Training

Whether you are new to circles or wanting a refresh course, we have your covered.

Districts New to Circles or Wanting a Refresh

If you are new to circles and are interested in making them work virtually with your educators and students you have to come to right place. For the first time our team has created an interactive online training for educators to help do just that.

Join our instructors as they walk you through each relational tool in a multi course training. In addition to unpacking each tool they will show you how to use them with your students. Your educators will receive the same training they would as if they were at a face to face training. In addition educators will be able to take their time through out the course and will be provided sections for question and answers with our instructors.

Circle Theme and Script

Having a theme for your circle can make your preparation much easier. Once you have chosen your theme, remember depending on the relationship you have with your students may determine the depth of the questions. We suggest starting with simple green questions for your first few virtual circles.

Along with questions, you can also create a Pulse Meter that goes along with your theme. By using this additional relational tool you can check in with your students to see how they are in case you may need to adjust your questions.

A great theme that everyone can relate to right now is; Caring.

  • Opening thoughts: Kindness begins with me!

  • Question: What makes you happy?

  • Question: What can you do to make someone else’s day better?

  • Question: If you could help anyone right now, who would it be?

  • Closing thoughts: Show someone you care today in a simple way.

Once you are ready to get into more indepth questions with your students, a great theme to use is; Mindfulness

  • Opening thoughts: Pay attention to your surroundings.

  • Question: Name a good thing that has happened to you recently?

  • Question: What is something you are currently struggling with?

  • Question: Who do you talk to when you are struggling?

  • Closing thoughts: Do one minute of meditation to start the day

See the below example for an easy theme and questions for your virtual circle with your students.

Virtual circles

Although we currently can’t have face to face circles, we can continue to provide our students a safe space with virtual circles.

NEW setup SAME guidelines

Now that educators can use Zoom to set up circles with their students, they can also remind everyone that the same guidelines still apply.

  • One person talks at a time

NOTE: Educators can mute all partipicants during a Zoom call to ensure no one is interriupted and can call on students individually.

  • Be considerate of other peoples feelings

  • Not everyone has to talk, they can pass

  • Everyone has a turn and a voice

  • Anyone can pass on their turn.

  • What happens in circle, stays in circle

  • Listen from the heart

  • Be honest

Biggest Change: Wtih the face to face aspect removed from circles, we no longer need a talking piece.
